Behind the scenes at Kober

Together we ensure the development of our children!

Kober childcare is a non-profit social organization. We believe that sound administrative oversight is important. Therefore, we endorse and act in accordance with the Governance Code for ChildcareThis document outlines how good governance and supervision within childcare should be implemented. Kober childcare is part of the Kober Foundation. After-school care is managed by the Kober Children's Work Foundation.

The Kober management team

Kober childcare is managed by Managing Director Robert Sänger. Together with Anouk van Lange (Director of Child Development) and Marieke van der Meulen (Director of Human Resources), he forms the management team. This team is responsible for developing and implementing policy, the annual plan, the multi-year plan, the budget, and for the day-to-day management of the organization. The Managing Director reports to the Supervisory Board.

The Supervisory Board

For Kober, the Supervisory Board (RvC) is more than just a formal supervisory body. The members of the Supervisory Board emphasize Kober's social impact and are committed fellow travelers on the path to equal opportunities for every child. In their role as supervisors, they safeguard the bigger picture and the human dimension. The members contribute ideas, challenge, reflect, and inspire. With one goal: to contribute to a strong, future-proof organization that makes a tangible difference for children, parents, and society.

Cluster managers

Kober's service area is divided into six clusters, each headed by a cluster manager. Each cluster consists of several units, each with a number of locations, each managed by a unit manager. The clusters align with the structure of school boards in the region. This structure allows Kober to offer greater proximity and support to all colleagues, strengthen collaboration with the education sector, and accelerate the development of childcare centers.

Organization and organizational chart

Kober Childcare has approximately 1.500 employees and interns and over 200 locations. We strive for optimal collaboration between the supervisory board, management, the central parent committee, and the works council. And, of course, all our professionals. This creates a professional, pleasant work environment where we jointly achieve what we stand for: equal opportunities for every child.

Join!

Would you like to contribute to the quality of Kober childcare? Great! You can join the parent committee of your child's location. Or you can make your voice heard in the central parent committee.

Curious about what Kober childcare has achieved in 2025?

You can read it in our annual report!

In 2025, Kober continued building on the 'Kenners van het kind' (Experts of the Child) strategy, through which we give daily substance to three important themes: 'kind-in-zicht' (child in sight), 'Kober in de wijk' (Kober in the neighborhood), and 'Kobergroen' (Kober Green). At the same time, we strengthened our collaborations and took further steps in the development of child centers, where childcare, education, and support come together. With this solid foundation, we will continue working in 2026 on equal development opportunities for every child.

Quality

Quality is central to Kober. This is a direct result of our strong organization and of the six pedagogical principles that form the foundation of all our actions towards children and colleagues. However, safeguarding and developing quality deserves our constant attention. This also applies to our organizational culture and structure, and specifically to the allocation of tasks, roles, and responsibilities. We continuously work on a culture of connection, collaboration, growth & learning, and ownership.

Social awareness

As a social childcare organization, we stand for the best opportunities for every child. We reinvest what we earn back into our organization and our people. In high-quality childcare. In the quality of our services. Ultimately, it's the children who benefit. We are committed to inclusivity and equal opportunities for children. And a sustainable and respectful society. We are working towards a better tomorrow for all children.

Together with Kober

Collaboration is at the heart of our organization. Kober Childcare believes that collaboration with schools, municipalities, and other (youth) organizations is essential for children's development. We collaborate with various partners to provide children with the best possible care. Want to learn more or collaborate with Kober? View here the possibilities.
