Daily schedule and activities for out-of-school care
What are we going to do today? Every day at out-of-school care is an opportunity to do something fun and discover something new! Music, sports, creativity, or activities in nature; we love ensuring the children have a good time together. Playing together, but also discovering what you are good at or what you enjoy. There are tons of possibilities. Read more here about the daily schedule and activities at our out-of-school care!
Out-of-school care daily schedule
Your child can start the day with us before school and/or come join us for a fun time after school is over. We work with a clear yet flexible daily schedule, allowing room for both rest and activity. We create a safe, welcoming atmosphere where every child feels seen. During holidays or on school-free days, we are also ready with an adapted program full of fun outings and activities. Read more about our after-school care schedules here. Would you like to come and see for yourself? Then schedule a tour at one of our locations!
7:30 AM - Early birds
01
Does your workday start early? Then your child can start their day with us. A quick draw, a game, or a game of table football. Afterwards, we walk to school together. Sometimes that is only a few steps, because we are often in the same building. For schools a little further away, we walk along as well. The older children go to their classrooms on their own; we take the younger ones to the doorstep.
3:00 PM - When the school bell rings
02
When school is out, we are ready in the schoolyard. We pick up the youngest children from their teacher, while the older ones come to us on their own. At the after-school care, we start with something healthy: fruit, a cracker, or a wrap with (fruit) water. We chat briefly about the day and decide together what we feel like doing this afternoon.
15:30 PM - Play, bake, craft, or chill
03
At the after-school care, children can participate in all kinds of different activities, both indoors and outdoors. They are given a lot of freedom of choice so that they can discover what they enjoy doing. We also ask them to help think about the activity program. For example, we might just bake cookies together or examine tadpoles.
5:00 PM - Wrapping up together
04
We conclude the day with a light, healthy snack. The children are actively handed over to their parents by their mentor, but they can also walk or cycle home independently. Do parents trickle in a little later? Don't worry. We don't close the doors until 6:30 PM.
During the holidays
05
Do you have to work during a school holiday or a study day? No problem. We are there for the children then too: all day long, in fact! And because we have more time together on these days, we can fill the day with activities that are just a little different than usual. Think of a fun scavenger hunt, a mini-tournament, an outing, and more.
Activities at after-school care
There is always something fun to do at our after-school care centers. We deliberately offer a wide variety of children's activities so that there is plenty for every child aged 4 to 12 to enjoy. This includes fun indoor and outdoor activities, as well as cultural or other special outings. The activities at the after-school care are carefully organized and, where necessary, supervised by our pedagogical professionals. We would be happy to tell you more about this!
Nice to go outside
The outdoors is the perfect place to relax after a school day. At the after-school care center, there are plenty of outdoor play activities: running, a game of football, climbing on the climbing frame, free play on the schoolyard, or simply hanging out together outside. The outdoors provides space and helps clear the mind after a school day. At the same time, children discover the world around them: the changing seasons, different sounds, smells, and temperatures. Heading out with an insect card to spot critters, observing birds, or examining a tree before drawing it. Being outdoors is not just about exercise, but also about experiencing, discovering, and relaxing – all at the same time.
Let's explore!
After school, children primarily want to choose for themselves what to do. To unwind, chill out, or be actively engaged. We arrange the space in such a way that the children can easily find inspiration; all sorts of possibilities exist in the fields of play, sports, music, culture, and creativity. We offer suggestions where helpful, but the initiative lies with the children. Just go and see what is available and try it out. This way, children learn by doing, and their self-confidence grows naturally.
Look what I made!
Children at after-school care often want to make something real. A structure that stays standing, a painting with an idea, a dish that is actually eaten. What do I want to make? How do I go about it? Using various materials and props, they devise and create their own creations: a craft project, a game, a dance. By trying, starting over, and persevering, children learn step by step how things work. And how good it feels when something finally succeeds.
Active after school
After a day in the classroom, it is wonderful to get moving. With us, they can run, play sports, play outside, or move to music; whatever you feel like doing. Clear your head for a moment, get your body active. Through movement, children can unwind and recharge at the same time. This way, they find their balance after a school day, before heading home feeling relaxed.
Play together
Playing a game together, putting on a play, cooking, or building a marble run. Children love doing activities together at the after-school care center. They practice teamwork, discussing, and dealing with differences. Sometimes it happens naturally; sometimes it requires some practice or guidance from us. That is part of the process too. We observe from the sidelines and step in when it helps. After all, you don't learn teamwork from a book, but by simply doing it.
Discovering hobbies
At after-school care, children discover where their interests lie. What gives me energy, what do I get completely absorbed in? We give space to their own ideas and encourage them to try new things. This way, children discover what suits them and what makes them happy. By choosing, practicing, and sometimes persevering, enjoyment, self-confidence, and perhaps even a new hobby grow. How fun is that?!
During the holidays
During school holidays, out-of-school care feels just a little different. Children are there for the whole day, which provides room for bigger plans and longer activities. There is no rush between school and care, but plenty of time to build something together. Think of a football tournament, a scavenger hunt, a circus day, or a creative workshop such as graffiti. Sometimes we also head out to explore the surroundings, and who knows, maybe even the beach. We prefer to be outside as much as possible! Children think along, choose for themselves, and put their own spin on the day. That makes the holiday period special: more time, more freedom, and above all, lots of fun together.
Endless things to do on the out-of-school care
Kober's after-school care centers are designed so that children can get started right away. Both indoors and outdoors, the spaces invite children to play, create, move, and discover. There are areas for independent activities as well as group activities. This gives children plenty of room to choose, try, and discover what suits them best.
Self-confidence and independence
We don't take everything off your child's hands, but let them do what they can and help where needed. This way, they grow in self-confidence and become increasingly independent.
Room for development
We support your child in their journey of discovery and explore their social-emotional, creative, cognitive, and motor development needs. We also give your child as much space as possible to gain experience independently.
Safe and secure
We see your child, approach them positively, and respond to their needs. We provide an emotionally and physically safe environment; a comfortable, familiar foundation from which your child can develop at their own pace.
Living and learning together
We offer your child every opportunity to learn from and with other children, to experience things together, and to have fun. This is made possible by the dynamic group dynamic; the composition changes every day. This way, your child's social development will occur almost naturally. We encourage children to work together – how great is it to achieve this as a group! And to enjoy each other's company.
Healthy and balanced
We provide healthy snacks and a healthy and varied lunch. This way, we introduce children to new flavors and textures and teach them to make their own choices. We also encourage your child to get plenty of exercise. So, of course, we go outside every day.
Respect for others and the world around you
We help children look beyond their own world and discover the diversity of society. For example, by focusing on other cultures, backgrounds, family situations, and living conditions, as well as nature. In this way, we gradually expand their world.
Kober's pedagogical vision
As a childcare organization, we believe it is important that our after-school care centers are places where children both play and learn. Children must be able to develop freely, under the guidance of our pedagogical professionals. We achieve this through 6 pedagogical principles. Would you like to know more about this?
